To manipulate large data sets in NetCDF format, a faster and cleaner way than python or NCL scripts is to use command line operators that are specifically designed for climate datasets. CDO is a set of tools that allow this to be done easily. NCO is not installed by default on all AOS computers. Please send an email to science.it@mcgill.ca to request its installation.
